Blackburn make approach for former world star Ronaldinho

It might seem like fairytale stuff, but there is a genuine chance that Ronaldinho could be a Blackburn Rovers player come the end of January.

In a bid to entice Ronaldinho to Lancashire for the next three years, a £20m package has been put together by Venky’s the new owners of Blackburn.

And Venky’s chair, Anuradha Desai, has suggested that Ronaldinho is keen to make a move to England following his troublesome spell at AC Milan.

“He is keen to play in the EPL [English Premier League] and I think that goes in our favour,” said Desai.

“To be precise, it [the package] is €7.6m (£6.5m) for the first year and about €8.5m (£7.2m) for the second and third years.”

Desai also added the club had made attempts to sign David Beckham.

Ronaldinho is back in Brazil after leaving the AC Milan training camp in Dubai on New Years Day, and the former Ballon d’Or winner is looking to engineer a move away from the Italian giants.

Blackburn currently sit 12th in the Premier League, but have one and lost two of the three games since Steve Kean took charge of the side following Sam Allardyce’s sacking, and many believe Blackburn will be involved in a relegation fight.

Blackburn are 4/1 to be relegated and face a huge match at home to Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Neither side is at the top of their game and Liverpool were atrocious away from home in the league in 2010, winning just three of their 18 games.

On the basis of Liverpool’s form, their 6/5 favouritism can hardly be justified and is well worth opposing.

Blackburn are available at 23/10 to beat Liverpool but the draw seems the more likelier outcome and is also 23/10.

A £10 stake on Blackburn being relegated would return £50. New customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
