Doncaster to be one of many to beat Premier League opposition

With a number of top flight clubs facing tricky trips to Championship sides in the third round of the FA Cup, there is a strong possibility that many Premier League outfits may be absent from the fourth round of the competition.

There is only one all Premier League game in the third round as Liverpool travel to Manchester United and the football betting that the loser of this game is the only top flight club to go out in round three is 100/1.

Four Premier League clubs exited the competition at the third round stage 12 months ago and five fell at the first hurdle in the year previous.

However, with many of the big clubs on the road to decent Championship opposition, there is every possibility that there could be a vast number of Premier League casualties.

FA Cup betting odds are 4/1 that between eight and ten Premier League clubs are dumped out in the opening round and this looks more than possible.

Wolves have only won one away game in the league this season and they travel to a Doncaster team which have lost just one of their 11 home fixtures.

Birmingham face a tricky trip to Millwall, while Hull are better than their form suggests and could be dangerous opposition for Wigan.

Reading will also fancy their chances at home to out-of-form West Brom, while Sheffield United have a respectable chance of piling more misery on Aston Villa.

Other potential upsets are a weakened Blackpool falling at League One high-flyers Southampton, Blackburn entertain Championship leaders QPR, Sven-Goran Eriksson will want to put one over former club Manchester City with his new Leicester team and Stevenage could shock Newcastle.

A £10 bet on the treble of Millwall, Doncaster and Hull all winning could lead to a return of £183.70. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
