Two out as Liverpool look to spend to avoid relegation

Tom Werner has already declared that Kenny Dalglish will have money to spend at Liverpool to stave off any lingering doubts of relegation and the pending sales of Ryan Babel and Milan Jovanovic should only boost these funds further.

Liverpool’s betting odds are currently 33/1 to be relegated this season, with a recent rare away victory at Wolves carrying them seven points clear of the bottom three.

However, a small run of bad results will quickly see Liverpool dragged back into the dogfight again and it will be hoped that some new faces at Anfield will prevent this situation from occurring.

Werner has made no indication as to the size of the transfer kitty that he would hand to Dalgish, but with £12m expected to be recouped from the sales of Babel and Jovanovic, it would be wise to assume that this would be made available as a minimum.

Babel has agreed to join Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim in a deal believed to be worth £6m, while fellow German side Wolfsburg have made a similar offer for fellow attacker Jovanovic.

It seems that the money may all be used in an attempt to bring Luis Suarez to Anfield, with Liverpool realising that they need another top-quality striker to add some more craft to their attacks and take some of the scoring burden off of Fernando Torres.

But it will be Torres who will be leading the line again for Liverpool in their next game as Liverpool host Fulham.

Liverpool are 4/7 in the Premier League odds to beat Fulham and this looks reasonable based on the fact that the visitors have won just once on the road in 11 games this season.

A £25 stake on the scorecast of Liverpool beating Fulham 2-0 and Torres scoring first would return £400. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
