Ronnie O’Sullivan last won the Welsh Open in 2005 and hasn’t made the best starts to his year, losing in the opening round of the Ladbrokes Mobile Masters 4-6 against Mark Allen.
O’Sullivan may not be at the top of his game at the moment, but you can never count the Englishman out. He is favourite in the snooker betting odds for the world championships at 9/2 and could be well worth a bet in the Welsh Open odds.
Second favourite in the world championship betting odds is John Higgins. The Scot has endured a miserable year following controversies away from the table, but is currently 11/2 to win his fourth world title. His Welsh Open odds will be similarly short and he is definitely one to consider backing.
