Chesterfield open door for Wycombe after shock home defeat

Wycombe Wanderers moved to within six points of Chesterfield on Saturday after the league leaders suffered a shock home defeat to Morecambe.

With a game in hand on the league leaders the Chairboys have emerged as the real threat to Chesterfield, and Wycombe are now as short as 3/1 to win League Two.

Chesterfield have just two wins in their last eight games and while the Spireites have looked like running away with the league at certain times this season, the 4/6 favourites for the League Two title are failing to shake off the chasing pack.

Tuesday night offers punters the chance to bet on seven League Two fixtures, but the real draw is the match-up between the top two at Chesterfield’s B2net stadium, and it’s the home advantage that makes Chesterfield favourites at 6/5.

Wycombe are 9/5 to beat Chesterfield on Tuesday, and considering Chesterfield’s recent form, Gary Waddock’s Wycombe side offer punters plenty of League Two value.

Another huge game in the race for automatic promotion is Shrewsbury’s home tie with Bury.

While Shrewsbury (10/1 to win League Two) and Bury (12/1) face a tremendous fight to catch Chesterfield, the two are well involved in the fight for a top three place and Tuesday’s game is crucial to both clubs.

With home advantage Shrewsbury would be expected to emerge victorious and they are 11/10 to do so, but Bury have emerged as the dark horses in League Two and offer plenty of value at 2/1 to win.

Elsewhere in the League Two betting market, third-placed Rotherham remain steady at 10/1 to win the league, while Port Vale and Gillingham are out to 22/1 to and 25/1 respectively.

A £25 stake on Wycombe winning the league would return £100. New customers can sign up here for a free League Two bet worth £25.
