Everton vs Villa – Villa to show unity and take the points

| 02.04.2011

Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier insists that the club are fully together in their battle against relegation and they can prove this by taking three points away from their trip to Everton.

Match Odds

Villa’s record against the Toffees has been remarkably good in recent seasons as they have gone nine Premier League games against them without tasting defeat.

It is 3/1 in the Premier League betting that Aston Villa beat Everton and they will also be buoyed by the promising recent England displays of Ashley Young, Stewart Downing and Darren Bent.

However, Everton are unbeaten in their last seven games at Goodison Park and have also avoided defeat in their last four league games.

Everton’s betting odds are 10/11 to beat Villa, which would extend the run of the visitors to one win in eight games in all competitions.

Furthermore, Villa have won just one of their last 12 Premier League away games and they would probably take a draw from their trip to Everton, which is priced at 12/5.

Total Goals

Given the poor defensive records of both Everton and Aston Villa, 5/6 seems a generous price that the game witnesses over 2.5 goals scored.

Villa have the second worst defensive record away from home in the whole of the top flight and have kept just one clean sheet in all of their last 20 Premier League fixtures.

Meanwhile, Everton are not much better at shutting out the opposition, keeping just a single clean sheet in their last 13 Premier League outings.

Houllier has had to name a youthful looking, patched up defence in recent games, but is set to recall both Richard Dunne and James Collins to his starting line up to face Everton.

A £20 stake on Aston Villa beating Everton 2-1 would return £280. New customers can sign up here to take advantage of free bets totalling up to £60.
