Torres goal helps Chelsea drop to 6/1 in Premier League odds

Fernando Torres’ first Chelsea goal has capped off a fine week for Carlo Anceotti’s team and their sudden surge in form has meant that the Premier League title race is far from over.

Manchester United may be 1/8 in the Premier League odds following their late winner over Everton, but Chelsea continue to give chase and ensure they are well positioned to profit from any late-season slip ups.

Chelsea have won four Premier League games on the bounce and are showing the type of ruthlessness that is common of champions towards the end of the season.

The second half of the season is when the title race is perceived to come to life and Chelsea are certainly the team in form of late, with only one defeat since January 5th and seven wins in eight games.

This is despite the struggles in front of goal their strikers, most notably Torres.

However, the last week may have seen the turning of a corner, with three goals scored in each of their victories over West Brom, Birmingham and West Ham and Torres ending his barren streak in the latter.

These victories have resulted in Chelsea’s odds being cut to 6/1 to win the Premier League and there are still grounds for them to be optimistic that they can close six points on Manchester United with only four games of the campaign remaining.

This realistically means that Chelsea must continue their winning habit and triumph in all four of their remaining games, which begins at home to Tottenham and also includes a trip to Old Trafford.

The good news for Chelsea is that there is every chance that Torres will gain a massive boost from his goal against West Ham and quickly find the net again against Tottenham.

Torres has found the target on both occasions that he has played at home to Spurs in the Premier League and may therefore be relishing the chance to do so for a third time to keep alive Chelsea’s slim hopes of Premier League glory.
