West Ham look best bet to finish bottom of Premier League

| 18.04.2011

Despite Blackpool being in complete freefall and looking like certain candidates for Premier League relegation, West Ham may turn out the best bet to finish at the foot of the table.

Although many teams hovering above the bottom three will still be nervously looking over their shoulder at the thought of relegation, it now seems as though it is between five teams to escape the drop.

Blackpool are the obvious candidates given the weakness of their current form and they are now 4/11 in the Premier League odds to be relegated following their home defeat to fellow strugglers Wigan.

Meanwhile, they are also 13/8 to finish bottom.

However, West Ham are one point below Blackpool at present and bearing in mind their own current form is poor and they have a tougher run-in, they are perhaps more likely to end the season propping up the table.

West Ham’s odds are 9/4 to finish bottom and there is every chance they will find themselves in this position after the next two games as they travel to Chelsea and Manchester City.

This will put added pressure on their closing three games and will need them to realistically take seven points from their showdowns with Blackburn, Wigan and Sunderland if they harbour hopes of staying up.

If Blackpool get their act together and Ian Holloway manages to successfully motivate his squad then there is every chance they could take points from each of their remaining games.

Therefore, as opposition to West Ham it may pay to take a slight punt on Blackburn to finish bottom at Premier League odds of 10/1.

Blackburn may currently be 16th in the standings, but are only three points off bottom and are without a win in ten league games.

They have dodgy away games with fellow relegation candidates West Ham and Wolves remaining, alongside home fixtures with Manchester City and Manchester United.

A £30 stake on Blackburn finishing bottom of the Premier League would return £300. New customers can sign up here for a free £30 bet.
