Jones enters race to be next West Ham manager

Dave Jones’ latest failure to take Cardiff to the Premier League has resulted in speculation regarding his future and he has now become one of the favourites to be named the next manager of West Ham.

In each of the last four seasons Jones has had a squad capable of mounting a strong challenge for promotion from the Championship, but this dream remains unfulfilled.

After losing in the play-off final to Blackpool last year, Cardiff continued to build their squad, with Craig Bellamy a major signing this season.

However, the play-offs have proved their nemesis again as a defeat over two legs against Reading has ensured that another season in the Championship awaits.

This could spell the end for Jones, but if he does leave he could move to another of the Championship’s favourites for promotion next year in West Ham.

Jones is one of a number of new names added to the next West Ham manager market and has been installed at 7/1.

He could prove a useful appointment for West Ham, with Jones having a proven track record of success on a tight budget.

Alan Curbishley is another interesting newcomer to the next West Ham manager betting market and looks a big price at 25/1.

Curbishley has already been in charge of West Ham once before with great success, helping them to Premier League survival in 2007 and then finishing in mid-table in the following campaign.

Although the style of football of the team meant that he was not the apple of the eye of many West Ham supporters, Curbishley’s steady nature is something that may appeal to owners David Gold and David Sullivan.

Chris Hughton remains the favourite to be the next West Ham manager at 5/4.

A £30 stake on Kevin Keen being named next West Ham manager would return £600. New customers can sign up here for a free £30 bet.
