Man Utd & Chelsea both considering swaps to sign Sneijder

The conundrum of where Wesley Sneijder will be playing his football next season is no nearer to being solved, but it seems that Manchester United and Chelsea remain his two most likely destinations if he is to leave Inter Milan.

Manchester United were the first to make their interest in Sneijder known and could definitely do with more of a creative influence in an advanced midfield position now that Paul Scholes has decided to retire.

However, with the club seemingly having numerous midfield targets it remains to be seen if they have the required funds to complete such a transfer or whether they would be prepared to meet the wage demands of the Dutchman.

Ashley Young appears to be on the brink of a switch to Old Trafford from Aston Villa, while the Red Devils are also reportedly interested in Tottenham’s Luka Modric.

To ease the financial blow, Manchester United may be prepared to include Nani in such a deal and with the Portuguese winger valued at around £20m, this would significantly reduce the amount they would have to pay.

Meanwhile, rumours continue that Chelsea would also consider using players in an approach for Sneijder, with Florent Malouda and Michael Essien potentially the most likely to appeal to Inter Milan.

Chelsea could also profit from a creative influence behind their strikers and the signing of Sneijder could work well alongside the goals of Frank Lampard, the workrate of Ramires and the protection offered by John Obi Mikel.

Furthermore, it could help speed up the development of the highly regarded Josh McEachran.

If either of the duo manage to lure Sneijder to England then it could substantially enhance their chances of winning the Premier League next season.

The current Premier League odds have reigning champions Manchester United and Chelsea as the joint favourites at 2/1, with Manchester City the next best at 4/1.
