Porto strikers to follow Villas-Boas to the Premier League

Fans of English football may witness a triumvirate of Porto’s treble-winning team in the Premier League next season.

Andre Villas-Boas’ move to Chelsea has all but been completed following his resignation earlier today and the former Porto manager could be joined by strikers Hulk and Falcao in gracing England’s finest league.

Strong rumours suggest Falcao will follow his former manager to Stamford Bridge and today his striker partner Hulk has revealed he too could quit the club.

With 23 goals in 26 league games last season Hulk is high up on the shopping lists of many clubs, but the three leading contenders for the Brazilian’s signature look to be AC Milan, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Hulk was overshadowed by Falcao in Porto’s Europa League success last season but was instrumental in guiding his side to a league title with his 23 goals, and his consistency in front of goal is something Spurs need desperately.

Many though the chance to sign Hulk had disappeared after he signed a two-year contract extension in May, but the Brazilian striker insisted he was still prepared to move following the news his manager had resigned.

“Before I came on holiday I extended my contract with Porto by two years,” said the striker. “But if there is a good opportunity for me and the club, a transfer could take place.”

Falcao scored 18 goals in 16 Europa League appearances last season and it’s easy to see why Chelsea want him as Roman Abramovich chases the elusive Champions League title.

It’s difficult to understand why more teams aren’t scrambling for the Colombian’s signature after his return of 38 goals in 42 appearances last season.

Falcao has been at Porto for two seasons and has scored an incredible 73 goals in 85 appearances, and should he have a strong Copa America this summer, it’s easy to see his value topping the £30m mark.
