The Money Maker – likely outsiders that could make your week

There is always some each-way value to be had, particularly in horse racing and this could be found today with Valentine’s Gift in the 16:30 at Beverley.

Finding a big-priced winner could bring some added joy to a given week and Valentine’s Gift can certainly finish among the places at Beverley at horse racing odds of 33/1.

Looking at the bare form of Valentine’s Gift does not inspire great confidence as the horse was always behind on his only career start to date, when trailing home seventh of nine in a Newcastle maiden last October.

However, there are some notable reasons why the horse can be expected to step up from this run.

Firstly, this Newcastle race was on heavy ground and it could be argued that the horse will be more at home on the faster surface likely at Beverley.

Furthermore, trainer Neville Bycroft has already been responsible for three big-priced winners in the last week, with victories secured at 40/1, 20/1 and 22/1.

Like Valentine’s Gift, two of these were also having their first run of the season, which shows that the trainer is having no problems getting his runners fit and one was partnered by Andrew Heffernan, who is in the saddle today.

Of Valentine’s Gift’s chief opposition, market leader Power Punch has been a beaten favourite on his last two starts, including when odds-on last time out and Striking The Wind does not inspire confidence having run a stinker at Southwell in April when well fancied.

Free Art has already run 12 times without passing the finishing post first, while Circle Of Angels has a sound pedigree, but is unproven as he prepares for his first racecourse appearance.
