Pick of the Pundits: Na Zdorovie can bring good health to punters

Published:

Following a run of 13 naps without a victory Gary Nutting of the Sunday Mirror got back to winning ways with Cape Classic yesterday and has vaulted back up the Racing Post naps competition table.

William Haggas’ incredible strike rate at Ffos Las was pushed up to 50% by Cape Classic yesterday and the Newmarket-based trainer is one to watch whenever he sends horses to the Welsh course.

Today sees six of the 50 writers in the naps competition nap Na Zdorovie in the 19:00 at Kempton.

Roughly translated, Na Zdorovie means to good health in Russian and Barry Hills’ two-year-old can bring plenty of cheer to punters today.

19:00 Kempton: Na Zdorovie – 11/8

Many would consider 11/8 to be a short price in a 12-runner field but there is plenty of hype surrounding Na Zdorovie who missed out on Glorious Goodwood due to a vet certificate.

Hills was planning to run her in a Class 2 fillies’ maiden following her second at Newbury earlier in the month, and this Class 5 maiden fillies stakes should be easy pickings for Na Zdorovie.

The main danger comes in the form of Clive Cox’s Way Too Hot who at 2/1 is a real danger according to the betting.

With Roman Province third in the betting at 8/1 this looks as if it’s a two-horse race and while all eyes will be on Na Zdorovie, Way Too Hot will make this a very interesting contest.

Way Too Hot was second in a class four Maiden at Newbury just over 10 days which leaves both horses showing the same form, but because connections of Na Zdorovie thought she was good enough for Goodwood, preference has to be for Hills’ horse.
