Dan Skelton blog: Sandown season finale preview

Ladbrokes ambassador Dan Skelton looks ahead to season finale at Sandown.

It is the last day of the season at Sandown in what has been a fabulous year. We realise we can’t beat Willie Mullins to the trainers’ title even though we are the closest challengers on paper. Basically we need to win everything, and for him not to win a pound which is not likely at all in any shape or form.

It would be lovely to get past £3 million in prize money and we look forward to giving it our best next year. The title race sort of crept up on us after Cheltenham, it wasn’t as if we had set our stall out for it but it has been a great year.

Be Aware & Goonhilly – 1.50 Sandown

Harry rides Be Aware, who is a lovely young novice, and the track should really suit him He is in great form at home and I think he has a good chance in this.

The other horse is Goonhilly who hasn’t actually won over hurdles but has some very good place form. He ran very well in the Imperial Cup in March and this is the same trip and track so I would like to think he would have an each-way chance as well.

Be Aware odds - 7/1

Goonhilly odds - 25/1

Nube Negra – 3pm Sandown

Nube Negra needs no introduction. He has been a great boy for us and gets his chance to run over two miles on good ground which is what he loves. We have been very happy with him.

The only problem is that Jonbon and El Fabiolo among others have all turned up as well so it will be very hard. I am sure he will run very well given his prep, the ground, and freshness so I am looking forward to getting him out there.

Nube Negra odds: 40/1

Le Milos – 3.35 Sandown

This race has been in mind for some time and we kept him fresh for it. I don’t think the trip will be a problem. He stayed four miles in a Grand National last year.

He has been running over hurdles this year but only because we maybe thought he was well handicapped for the Pertemps but turned out not to be. He is much better over fences and comes here in good form and I have to give him a chance.

Le Milos odds: 8/1

Langer Dan – 4.10 Sandown

He needs no introduction. He went down by a fighting head to Impaire Et Passe last time, who gives us 2lbs. The slightly longer trip will suit us. I think it will be a very interesting race with the two of them. I am looking forward to it.

Langer Dan odds: 5/2
