Striker out to copy Premier League impact of countryman Tevez

Denis Stracqualursi believes he can become the next Argentinean striker to hit the ground running in the Premier League, starting this weekend against Aston Villa if he is handed his Everton debut.

Stracqualursi has arrived on a season-long loan from Tigres, where he scored 21 goals in 38 appearances during the last Argentinean league campaign to finish as joint top scorer.

After watching the likes of Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero quickly establish themselves in the Premier League, the 23-year-old believes he has the necessary attributes to make a similar impact for Everton.

He said: “I think my style will suit England. Players are quite powerful and strong and football is played quite a bit in the air and I am pretty good in the air.

“I had a pretty good season in terms of goalscoring in a team which was fighting to stay alive at the highest level and I have never been one to shy away from targets.

“I’ll be trying to score as many goals as possible to help Everton have as good a campaign as possible.”

With Yakubu and Jermaine Beckford both leaving Everton in the transfer window, Stracqualursi is one of only a few options available in attack for David Moyes, alongside the injury-troubled Louis Saha.

This means that he is almost certain to play some role against Aston Villa, as Everton look to produce their best performance of the campaign to date after ordinary displays in their opening two Premier League games.

Everton’s odds are 1/1 to beat Aston Villa, which would see them leapfrog their opposition in the Premier League standings.

However, it is a Premier League fixture that has not resulted in many points for Everton in recent seasons as they have failed to win any of their last ten encounters with Aston Villa in the top flight.

It is 23/10 that Alex McLeish continues his unbeaten start as Villa boss with a draw, while they are 14/5 to take the three points.
