Chelsea odds point to easy European game against Genk

Chelsea’s straightforward start to their Champions League campaign shows no sign of getting any more difficult this Wednesday evening.

The Blues welcome Belgian side Genk to Stamford Bridge and are big favourites at 1/9 to overcome a team who have failed to score in their two Group E games so far.

Chelsea should comfortably win this game having lost just three Champions League games at home in the past eight years against Barcelona, Inter Milan and Manchester United.

Genk are also on a dreadful run of form and are currently ninth in the Belgian top division having lost their previous two encounters and going three without a win.

Combined with the fact Genk have won only one Champions League away game in their history – and that was a tight 1-0 qualifying game against Sarajevo in 2007 – backing the Blues to win at 1/9 looks a certain way of earning some cash.

Also, backing 2-3 goals to be scored at 6/5 looks well worth a punt considering Andre Villas-Boas’ men have hit 13 in their previous four games while, prior to his sending off against Swansea, Fernando Torres looked to finally be finding his form in a Chelsea shirt, scoring two in two Premier League games.

Backing the rested Spaniard to score this Wednesday also looks tempting at 11/4.

Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen host Valencia for the first time in their Group E game with the German side 11/8 favourites.

Leverkusen opened up with a straightforward 2-0 win against Genk, but will find the going a lot tougher against the Spaniards who are 2/1 to get the win.

However, with the odds so close and Valencia drawing four of their previous six Champions League away games, backing the draw at 9/4 could lead to a very tidy payout.
