Big Buck’s victory to be highlight of live horse racing action

Published:

After Long Run, Kauto Star and Master Minded last weekend, another all-star cast awaits horse racing fans this weekend as the likes of Binocular and Big Buck’s make their first starts of the season, while the Hennessy Gold Cup also takes place at Newbury.

In total there are six televised races and we believe that we have found some winners among them.

14:05 Newbury – Empire Levant @ 2/1

Empire Levant gets in without a penalty for a recent 29-length over the same Newbury circuit and the booking of Harry Derham is also worth taking note of as his claim will take off a further 7lb.

14:20 Newcastle – Overturn @ 7/2

Binocular is undoubtedly the class horse in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle, but he tends to be below par on his seasonal reappearance so a slight chance is taken on Overturn to add to his Grade Two victory recently at Ascot.

14:35 Newbury – Big Buck’s @ 1/6

Big Buck’s has won the Long Distance Hurdle for the past two years and should have little trouble adding another success, barring accidents.

15:10 Newbury – The Giant Bolster @ 20/1

The only reason The Giant Bolster is such a big price in the Hennessy Gold Cup odds is because of the inadequacies of his jumping and he has failed to complete on four of his last six starts.

If he is stays up at Newbury he has a fine chance off what looks like a low weight. The trip and ground should suit.

15:30 Newcastle – Hey Big Spender @ 9/2

Hey Big Spender tends to be at his best when conceding weight to inferior rivals and should have come on markedly for an encouraging seasonal reappearance at Cheltenham recently.

15:45 Newbury – Coup Royale @ 5/1

Coup Royale came from a mile back to win on his latest start at Kempton despite putting in some poor jumps and should go close again as trainer Colin Tizzard aims for a third straight win in the race.
