Get ready for goals as Liverpool face Manchester City at Anfield

The biggest game of the weekend sees Manchester City travel to Liverpool in what promises to be a thrilling game between two teams desperate for success.

We told you yesterday how Liverpool look a brilliant price at 15/8 to end City’s unbeaten run – but the goal markets also catch the eye ahead of Sunday’s clash.

Since City’s 2008 takeover they have faced the Reds on six occasions.

Liverpool have a slight edge over City in those meetings, with the 18-times English champions winning two, drawing three and losing just once – a 3-0 defeat at the Eastlands last term.

Liverpool won the last meeting between the sides 3-0 at Anfield meaning that just two of the previous six encounters have yielded less than three goals.

And it gets even better for anyone hoping for goals in this clash – City haven’t been involved in a game that has seen less than three goals scored in their previous ten clashes, while they haven’t played out a goalless draw since a Europa League game against Yaris last February.

Liverpool’s goalless draw in their last home game against Swansea tempers expectations somewhat but – as we mentioned yesterday – the Reds seem to find it harder going against the lesser Premier League teams.

The last time the Reds played out a goalless draw with any side in the top half of the Premier League was their away game against a far more defensively-minded City back in February 2010.

With City resting the likes of Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri for their midweek game against Napoli and Liverpool having a week off following their 2-1 win against Chelsea, both sides will head into this game full of verve and, hopefully, goals.

Backing over 2.5 goals looks a great bet at 8/11, while over 3.5 can be backed at a very tempting 2/1.
