Porto can make Group G statement with win at Apoel Nicosia

Group G may not be the most thrilling in the Champions League, but it is certainly one of the tightest – and that makes for some brilliant odds.

Just one point separates the top three teams and only three separate Shakhtar Donetsk in fourth and Apoel Nicosia in first.

Porto – who are currently third – can leapfrog the current leaders with a win against them in Cyprus.

The Portuguese champions are 4/5 favourites heading into the game, with Apoel Nicosia out at 7/2 to consolidate their position at the top of the table.

Apoel have had a mixed couple of weeks though, with just two wins in their previous six games in all competitions. That run did include a solid 1-1 draw away to Porto though, making the 7/2 offered for them to win this Tuesday look extremely tempting.

However, Porto have been in brilliant form in recent weeks and have scored eight goals without reply in their previous two games.

With Apoel failing to keep a clean sheet in their last five Champions League games, backing the win for Porto and over 2.5 goals at 1/1 look like two great bets.

Meanwhile, bottom side Shakhtar Donetsk travel to second-place team Zenit St Petersburg looking for their first Champions League win since their last 16 victory over Roma last season.

Shakhtar are outsiders at 3/1 to get the away win with Zenit in at 10/11.

The Russian side have won their previous three home Champions League games but Shakhtar have been in very decent form on the road, winning their last two in the Ukrainian top division.

With little to choose between the sides, backing a draw at 12/5 is well worth considering.
