QPR vs MK Dons: Great chance for Hughes to claim his first win

Published:

Mark Hughes takes charge of QPR in a home game for the first time against League One MK Dons, and will be determined to avoid a slip up in the FA Cup.

The Rs look big at 4/5 to win in 90 minutes, considering the upturn in the calibre of their performance away to Newcastle at the weekend, and the fact that Hughes will be desperate to get off to a winning start in front of his new home crowd.

It is 5/2 that the teams draw, while the Dons, who won 4-1 away at newly-promoted Premier League outfit Norwich earlier in the season, are 7/2 to pull off a shock victory in the FA Cup odds.

A 1-1 draw occurred in the initial meeting between these two, with Heidar Helguson rescuing a replay for the Hoops late on.

The Icelandic hitman is QPR’s top scorer and is 4/1 favourite to score first here, but loan star Federico Macheda could get his first start for the club, and, eager to make an impression, could prove value at 9/2 to notch first.

Charlie MacDonald looks to be the main threat for the visitors, and he is 8/1 to be the first goalscorer of the game, but Hughes is certain to commit to a more organised defensive approach, making it difficult for the opposition to break them down.

With this in mind, the 6/4 odds for QPR to keep a clean sheet look very respectable, whilecthe home side to win to nil looks a brilliant bet at 2/1 also.

Scoreline betting could prove profitable for punters on this game too, as the new QPR boss will be fired up to make a big impression in his first Loftus Road game.

The 12/1 odds for a 3-0 scoreline in favour of QPR looks far too big, but more cautious punters may prefer to take advantage of the 15/8 on offer for the home side to overcome a one-goal handicap.
