Chelsea to pile more misery on out-of-sorts Tottenham
Published:Despite looking absolute certainties for third place a matter of weeks ago, Tottenham Hotspur now desperately need to justify 3/1 odds to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend to keep them firmly in the driving seat for a top four spot.
It will be no easy task for travelling Spurs, who have been in dreadful form of late, with an FA Cup win over League One Stevenage the only win of their past six outings.
Throw in the fact that a resurgent Chelsea side have won four of their five games under Roberto Di Matteo, as well as considering that Tottenham haven’t won at Stamford Bridge since 1990, and the 10/11 odds on a home win look more appealing.
The Blues now perch just six points adrift of fourth-placed Spurs, and with little goal difference to choose between the sides, Di Matteo’s men will fancy their chances of overhauling the White Hart Lane outfit for a Champions League place if they can win on Saturday.
5/2 odds are attributed to the possibility of a draw, which would please Harry Redknapp’s travelling side more than fifth-placed Chelsea, and this was the outcome in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, where the sides played out a 1-1 draw.

Ladbrokes still see Tottenham as odds-on chances to claim a position in the top four, priced at 2/7 in the Premier League odds, though that price is sure to fluctuate dependant on Saturday’s result at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea meanwhile, are 5/4 to finish in the top four, but their odds are similarly likely to change in light of Saturday’s result, and as the Blues look good for a home success, it could be worth taking advantage of those 5/4 odds sooner rather than later.
