Inter v Marseille: patchy Italians massive price for home win

Published:

Champions League progression could prove integral to Claudio Ranieri’s bid to keep his job as Inter manager, and his side must beat Marseille at a big 1/1 tonight to have any chance of making the quarter-finals.

Their visitors snatched a victory in the first leg via Andre Ayew’s injury-time header, and the French outfit are 11/4 to complete a double here.

Each side have underachieved greatly in domestic competition so far this season, sitting seventh in Serie A and eighth in Ligue 1 respectively, and the teams are 23/10 to cancel each other out by playing out a draw.

Odds of 1/1 are as lengthy as you are ever likely to see attributed to Inter in a European home game however, and the Italians look an unmissable bet to win at that price, whilst added value can be found in correct score betting.

Goals have been hard to come by for both teams in Europe, with each of them finding the net just eight times in seven matches, so the 11/2 odds for a 1-0 home win could appeal, which would result in extra-time.

Alternatively, you can get 8/1 about a 2-1 Inter win, and it should be noted that Marseille will be desperate to score the away goal that would put them firmly in the driving seat.

What may also interest many punters is the generous 3/1 odds for Inter to achieve victory with two or less goals featuring in the game, whilst you can get 5/2 for an Italian triumph with three or more strikes.

The respective attacking options in either side make it appear baffling that they have both struggled to find the net, and powerful Argentinian Diego Milito is 9/2 favourite to get the opener for the hosts.

Giampaolo Pazzini is a decent 11/2 to add to his two Champions League strikes this campaign, whilst Loic Remy’s pace will be a key asset for Marseille, and the forward is 6/1 to break the deadlock for the away side.
