Man Utd proof that Arsenal can mount AC Milan comeback

Morale could not be greater in the Arsenal camp at present and it is 18/1 that they come back from the dead to progress past AC Milan in the Champions League.

Their 4-0 defeat in the San Siro a fortnight ago left Arsenal virtual certainties to be dumped out in the last 16, but their victories over Tottenham and Liverpool have given real hope that the deficit can be overturned.

Even manager Arsene Wenger stated after the Liverpool success that the impossible has suddenly become possible and there are statistical grounds to suggest that Arsenal can reach the quarter finals.

Arsenal’s 5-2 victory over Tottenham was their second home game in succession that they managed to score at least four goals, having previously hit Blackburn for seven at the Emirates.

Meanwhile, looking back at their last 12 home games in the Champions League, Arsenal have managed a minimum of four goals in a third of these fixtures.

Furthermore, although it is not a regular occurrence, AC Milan are more than capable of shipping four goals in a game.

Manchester United proved this in the Champions League in 2010 when beating AC Milan 4-0 at Old Trafford and Arsenal would gladly take a repeat to force extra time.

Udinese also scored four against Milan in Serie A last season and at least one team has netted a minimum of four past the Italians in each of the last three seasons and nobody has managed it yet in the current campaign.

It may prove too much of an ask for Arsenal to win by four goals, but 21/20 does seem a decent price that they simply beat Milan to restore some pride in the tie.

Arsenal have won 12 of their last 14 home games in the Champions League, including seven of their last eight.
