Liverpool to move Carroll out and bring goalscorer in

| 27.04.2012

Geordie target man Andy Carroll looks set to be shipped out of Liverpool on a loan deal next season, as Kenny Dalglish makes room for a striker to address his side’s wastefulness in front of goal.

The ex-Newcastle man came to Merseyside in a rich vein of form after guiding his boyhood cub back to the Premier League and firing them to mid-table by Christmas, but he has failed to rediscover that form, with only four league goals this term.

Despite netting crucial strikes in the FA Cup semi-final victory over Everton and a last minute winner at Blackburn, it would seem his manager has seen enough and believes that a season away from Anfield may do him good.

The Scot has set his sights on a trio of strikers in the hope of capturing at least one to fire his club back into the top four.

Top of that list is Valencia’s Roberto Soldado.

The Spanish international is likely to be widely sort after this summer, but the Liverpool boss is hoping that a guaranteed place in the starting eleven alongside Luis Suarez can tempt the 17-goal man away from Los Che.

Another Spanish striker that has been identified is Fernando Llorente.

Again a member of the Spain squad, Llorente is more comparable to Carroll in that he is a big physical forward, but he is technically gifted as well as a good target man as he showed against Man United, striking twice in the Europa League.

Away from Spain, FC Groningen’s young Uruguayan striker David Teixeira is also under consideration.

The Reds were linked with him in January and the draw of a fellow Uruguayan to play up front with could be the deciding factor. Teixera only joined the Dutch side last summer but has caught the eye this year on his way to scoring eight goals in just 24 starts.

The Spanish duo are thought to command figures approaching the £20 million mark while the youngster is believed to be valued at £7.5 million.
