Chelsea 10/1 to retain Champions League title after Munich win

Chelsea’s dramatic Champions League penalty shootout win against Bayern Munich has seen them installed at 10/1 to win the tournament again next year.

Thomas Muller looked to have won the tournament for the German side but a late Didier Drogba header and Arjen Robben penalty miss helped conspire to send the game to penalties – which Chelsea duly won.

Chelsea have immediately been installed as 10/1 to win the tournament next year.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “The game got off to a slow start but that didn’t stop punters from sending in-play turnover through the roof.

“The whole of the country got behind Chelsea and it seems that everyone wanted a piece of the in-play action.”

She added: “We’re anticipating Abramovich will spend big in the summer in order to hold on to the trophy. Barcelona may be the favourites but they’re a team in transition which all clubs should use to their advantage.”

However, favourites for the title remain the side who Chelsea dispatched in the semi final. Barcelona can be backed at 2/1 to win the Champions League without Pep Guardiola at the helm.

Spanish champions Real Madrid are 7/2 to win Jose Mourinho’s third Champions League title, while Manchester City are the shortest English team at 5/1.

Manchester United – who crashed out in the group stages this past season – are at 7/1, while Arsenal are out at a rather large 25/1 to win their first ever Champions League title.
