Chelsea v Blackburn: hosts to pile misery on leaky Rovers side

Published:

With no defeat suffered to Blackburn since 2006, it is difficult to see anything other than a Chelsea win over the already-relegated side at 3/10 this Sunday.

That six year span since Rovers last won has included 15 meetings of the sides in all competitions, during which Blackburn have managed three draws, and the stalemate is a 4/1 shot this weekend.

Their 9/1 odds to win at Stamford Bridge are unappealing meanwhile, in light of their recent league form, as the Lancashire outfit enter this game having lost seven of their last eight matches.

They have failed to score during five of these games too, which makes the 11/10 odds about a Chelsea clean sheet look tempting, and the bigger 6/5 for the home side to win without conceding appear unmissable.

Neither side can affect their league position with the result of this fixture, but Chelsea should have greater incentive to score a win that would give them momentum heading into next week’s Champions League final.

An emphatic victory would boost the Blues’ confidence, and they may be worth taking on at 15/8 odds to score four or more goals in the game, against a Blackburn side that has conceded more goals on the road than anyone this term.

Also, with Chelsea having led the majority of their home games by the break this season, 4/6 odds about them leading at half-time and full-time are tempting, whilst braver punters will fancy the Blues to win both halves at 1/1.

A host of Chelsea players will be eager to make an impression in the game, with starting berths up for grabs in their upcoming Champions League final on May 19.

Fernando Torres is likely to start this weekend, and will see support at 3/1 to get the opener, whilst Daniel Sturridge will also want to impress new England manager Roy Hodgson, and is 4/1 to break the deadlock.
