West Brom v Arsenal: expect goals at the Hawthorns

Published:

Arsenal are just one win away from securing Champions League football but face a tough task to pick up all three points against West Brom this Sunday.

The Baggies have been on a very decent run in recent weeks and, with Roy Hodgson off to manage England, they will be keen to give their popular boss a good send off.

It promises to be a close encounter but one thing looks certain – there should be plenty of goals…

Match odds

Arsenal are the 7/2 favourites and have a solid record against the Baggies.

Arsene Wenger’s men haven’t lost in their previous eight games against West Brom and comfortably saw them off 3-0 when they met at the Emirates earlier in the season.

However, Hodgson’s men held the Gunners last time they met at the Hawthorns and another draw can be backed at 11/4.

If you fancy an upset then West Brom – who have lost just one of their previous six and none of their last four – are 7/2 to put Arsenal’s Champions League ambitions in serious jeopardy.

Goal markets

There hasn’t been a shortage of goals in the clashes between these sides in recent years.

Only one of their last five meetings has seen less than 2.5 goals scored and each of the last three has yielded at least three strikes.

Backing over 2.5 goals at 8/13 looks well worth a punt – especially as Arsenal will be going all out for the win to guarantee a place in next season’s Champions League.

Finally, Robin van Persie opened the scoring in Arsenal’s 3-0 win back in November and has scored in each of his last two starts against the Baggies.

With 30 Premier League goals to his name this season, the Dutchman is even tempting at 8/13 to score at any time.
