Joshua and Adams can take home boxing gold for Team GB

Anthony Joshua has turned in some admirable displays thus far at London 2012, leaving him a short 11/10 to land another gold for Team GB.

22-year-old Joshua is a super-heavyweight fighter, and has been widely tipped to become Britain’s next breakout star from that weight division, by people who have been there and done it.

Former Olympic medallists Audley Harrison and David Price have been vocal in their praise of Joshua, who meets Kazakhstan fighter Ivan Dychko in a semi-final on Friday.

With Dychko the least favourable in the betting of the four remaining super-heavyweight fighters at 5/1, Joshua should at least ensure himself a shot at a gold medal.

Meanwhile, with Joshua one of six British boxers guaranteed a medal in London, the only remaining female fighter of Team GB is thought to have a superb chance of success.

Nicola Adams is 8/11 to take home the gold, with only Cancan Ren of China standing in her way in the women’s flyweight final.

Adams produced a gutsy display to conquer India’s Mary Kom in her semi-final bout, and the 29-year-old Leeds native is now just one step away from realising a 17-year dream.

Anthony Ogogo represents another gold medal chance for Great Britain meanwhile, with the 3/1 middleweight hugely impressing en route to the semi-final.

Ogogo has bested strong competition on the way to his meet with Brazilian competitor Esquiva Falcao Florentino, including a stunning majority decision win over top seed Ievgen Khytrov.

Florentino could represent an even tougher challenge, but Ogogo, who overcame a troublesome shoulder injury to compete at the Olympics, should not be discounted.

Elsewhere, Luke Campbell will hope to claim gold in the bantamweight division for Team GB, and the former European amateur champion is 7/4 to do so.

Yorkshireman Campbell will hold no fears in Friday’s semi-final bout with 20/1 outsider Satoshi Shimizu, and other potential finalists John Joe Nevin and Lazaro Estrada could struggle against the 24-year-old.
