Hard to disagree with Cech’s tip of goals when Man Utd visit Chelsea

Published:

Petr Cech is predicting goals galore when Manchester United visit Chelsea and if his forecast is correct, 8/11 looks a decent price that over 2.5 goals are netted at Stamford Bridge.

Both meetings between the pair were substantial goal-fests last season, with the Red Devils battling back from 3-1 down to take a point at Chelsea, with four goals also scored in the return.

In fact, 14 of Chelsea’s 19 Premier League home games last season successfully crossed this total-goal line, including those against fellow title challengers Manchester City and Arsenal.

Throw in that Man Utd’s away days at Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle saw a minimum of three goals scored and it is a fairly common occurrence that matches involving those towards the top of the table are high scoring.

The start of this season has done little to disprove this theory with three goals scored in each of Man Utd’s games with Liverpool and Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson’s team have scored at least twice in their seven Premier League games since their opening-day defeat at Everton.

Chelsea’s clashes with Arsenal and Tottenham this season have additionally seen at least three goals scored, with 11 goals netted across their last two Premier League games.

Cech was Chelsea’s best player in the 2-1 Champions League defeat to Shakhtar when the team was too open in defence and he said ahead of facing Man Utd.

“I think it will be another exciting game, and we have to defend better. But, on the other hand, they have been conceding and leaking goals, so it could be very exciting if both teams play like this.

“The score could be quite entertaining.”

Punters agreeing with Cech’s opinion can get 19/10 that over 3.5 goals are scored at Stamford Bridge, while it is 9/2 for over 4.5 goals and 9/1 that a minimum of six goals are struck.
