King of Stats: All the numbers on gameweek four of Champs League

Gameweek four signals the start of the Champions League group-stage’s business end as the sides who squared off in week three prepare to do battle again.

In light of this, we’ve thrown our regular King of Stats package together for those who want to use the trends as a basis for making some money on the teams sweating over their futures in Europe’s elite competition.

3 – Arsenal travel to Schalke looking to avenge their first home defeat to non-British opposition in 45 matches. However, their hopes are dashed by a dreadful away record on the continent where they have only won three of their last 13 games, losing eight. Back the hosts at a very reasonable 5/6.

5 – This is the number of home matches with Spanish opposition Milan have failed to win. It isn’t the sort of omen Max Allegri needs with a second loss to Malaga in two weeks not an option. Though their price of 23/20 looks a little better knowing they’ve taken seven points from the last nine in Serie A.

27 – Real Madrid have won seven Champions League home games on the spin, netting an incredible 27 goals in the process, while Dortmund’s draw at Man City was the first time they’d avoided defeat on the road in this competition since 2002/3. This makes the 5/4 on offer for Real’s total goals scored to be over 2.5 a very enticing prospect.

4 – Olympiacos can hold their own at home, yet French opposition have proved a thorn in their side of late, losing each of their last four. With Montpellier winless in this season’s competition, this run will be a welcome confidence booster and their massive price of 3/1 seems all the more tempting.

27 – Shakhtar are yet to win on English soil and Chelsea are unbeaten in 27 games at Stamford Bridge in this competition. However, they will not be keen to see the return of Mircea Lucescu – he coached the Besiktas side who inflicted Chelsea’s last European home defeat and his Donetsk-based charges are 11/4 to claim the spoils ahead of this one.

3 – The number of games Lille have played in Germany, all of which they have failed to score in but, on a more optimistic note, only one side have kept them at bay in French football this season. It’s 11/10 for them to score over 0.5 goals at the Allianz Arena.

4 – Braga have a great home record against English opposition – they’ve won each of their last four contests without conceding a goal, beating Arsenal, Liverpool, Birmingham and Portsmouth. They’ve also been free-scoring this season, notching 17 times in five domestic games; back them to score two or three goals here at 6/4 against Man United.

7 – BATE have a dreadful record with Spanish sides ahead of their clash with Valencia. They’ve lost seven from seven games, failing to score in six of them in which they shipped 17 goals. The only goal they managed to score came in a 4-1 defeat against Villarreal; lump on the hosts with a two-goal handicap at 11/5.
