Everton v Chelsea: Benitez’s good run to end at Goodison

Published:

Chelsea head to Goodison Park on the back of a three game winning streak in the Premier League – but it’s hard to see that run extending any further.

They are the 6/4 favourites to win this clash but, despite their recent good form, defeating Everton will prove a tough task.

After a sticky start that included a 3-1 away defeat at the hardly terrifying West Ham United, Rafa Benitez’s Chelsea have started to look like genuine title contenders once again thanks to some comprehensive victories.

They smashed Sunderland 3-1 and Aston Villa 8-0 but it was their gritty performance away to Norwich in their last match that should give them the most encouragement for this game.

They defeated the Canaries 1-0 at Carrow Road, a result that was pretty impressive considering the Norfolk side’s excellent home form this term that seen them beat both Arsenal and Manchester United.

Chelsea have the second best away record in the Premier League and have lost just two of their nine games away from Stamford Bridge making a punt on them winning look reasonably tasty at 6/4.

However, Everton have proved extremely hard to beat this term and have only tasted defeat twice in the league – and both of those were away clashes. They have also not lost a home league game against the Blues since 2008 in a run of four games.

While they have been hard to beat this season, they have also found wins hard to come by.

They have drawn nine of their opening 19 Premier League games and, with the draw currently available at 9/4, that looks the bet to take on in this battle of the blues.
