QPR v Liverpool: Hoops heading for more headaches

Published:

Things haven’t exactly gone to plan for either of these teams this term but, while Liverpool are lamenting their inability to get anywhere near the Champions League places, things are altogether more serious for QPR.

After drawing his first three games in charge, Harry Redknapp’s arrival in west London saw QPR finally get their first win of the season – a 2-1 home victory over Fulham in his fourth.

However, the Hoops have failed to build on that promising start under Redknapp and they have lost their previous two games against out-of-form sides Newcastle and West Brom.

Redknapp has spoken out several times about the poor attitude of many of QPR’s players and he will surely be itching for the transfer window to open so he can stamp some of his own identity on the Premier League strugglers.

In that respect, he has plenty in common with Brendan Rodgers who is light on striking options and is in charge of a team who are almost comically inconsistent.

They followed a 3-2 win at West Ham with a 3-1 home defeat against a pretty poor Aston Villa team and then went on to follow a 4-0 win against Fulham with a 3-1 defeat at Stoke.

With Liverpool so erratic at the moment, QPR should fancy their chances of getting something out of this game. QPR are 11/4 to get all three points here but, with confidence and form continuing to be an issue for the west London side, it’s hard to see them getting the win.

The draw can be backed at 12/5 but, with Liverpool losing just one of the nine games they’ve played against teams currently below them in the Premier League, a punt on the Reds to win at 1/1 looks well worth consideration.
