Man City striker Mario Balotelli cut to odds-on for AC Milan move

Published:

Mario Balotelli is now priced at just 10/11 with Ladbrokes to join AC Milan.

The Manchester City forward was left out of the starting line-up against Fulham, while The Sun are reporting that the 22-year-old has already flown his possessions back to Italy.

The newspaper also claim that Balotelli has handed his notice for the rented house in Cheshire he has been living in as well as packing his belongings back to Milan.

Rumours that his representative Mino Raiola was in Italy this week for talks over a transfer back to the San Siro only intensified speculation, which looks almost definitive now.

Balotelli has maintained a fractious relationship with Citizens boss Roberto Mancini, exemplified when the pair clashed at the club’s training ground recently.

That incident may have been overplayed by the national press – and underplayed by Mancini himself – but it seems that the duo won’t be working with each longer for much longer.

Balotelli is available at 5/4 to exit City during the January transfer window, while odds of 8/13 for him to be gone by the start of next season are offered.

The former Inter Milan frontman last started a game for City during the 3-2 defeat to local rivals Manchester United, and has been benched for the past three games.

His odds of leaving the club without playing for them again have been cut to 5/2 from 7/2.

It would be prove a quite remarkable turnaround for AC if they are to sign Balotelli, with owner Silvio Berlusconi having recently labelled his compatriot as a ‘rotten apple’.

But his appearances for Italy at Euro 2012 – where he played a key role in his nation’s run to the final – will not have gone unnoticed, while he is also set on a return to his home country and boyhood team.

With Sergio Aguero fit again, and Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko performing well up front together Mancini finally appears ready to give up on his £24 signing.
