Bale future could hinge on Ronaldo Real Madrid decision

As Cristiano Ronaldo dwells over signing a new Real Madrid contract, the club are looking at potential replacements for the global superstar.

Gareth Bale has drawn comparisons to the likes of Ronaldo in recent weeks, and a string of sensational performances for Tottenham and Wales have led to interest from the Santiago Bernabeu outfit.

It is believed Bale first caught the attention of the Real hierarchy back in 2011, during his rampant run in Champions League competition for Spurs.

But now having proved he can perform to such a level consistently, the Spanish giants are confident in his ability to integrate into their star-studded squad.

However, it is thought that no move will be made for Bale unless Ronaldo indicates he will not extend his current contract beyond 2015.

As it is well-known the Portuguese captain is open to the idea of a new challenge though, a switch to La Liga doesn’t seem such a far-fetched prospect for Bale.

The 23-year-old Welshman has penned fresh White Hart Lane terms for the past two summers in succession, as Tottenham have aimed to protect the resale value of such a prized asset.

And they are believed to be considering offering the winger a new deal once again, in the desperate hope of securing his services for at least another season.

The lure of turning out for Europe’s most successful club could prove too much to resist though, even if Spurs manage a top-four finish, as 8/15 odds suggest they look primed to do.

Bale wouldn’t come cheap for the La Liga champions however, as Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would be unlikely to entertain bids of lower than £60m, for a player he paid £7m for six years ago.

Still improving with every game, Bale has added devastating free-kicks to his arsenal in recent times, not dissimilar to the type Bernabeu crowds have grown accustomed to Ronaldo producing over the past few years.

He could be set to battle with the Portuguese captain over set-piece duties next term, should Ronaldo fail to commit his long-term future to Real Madrid.
