Dominant Chisora win a stepping stone to British battle with Price
Published:Following the end of his suspension at the hands of the British Boxing Board of control, Dereck Chisora has vowed to ‘destroy’ his next opponent Hector Alfredo Avila.
And Ladbrokes certainly believe he is capable of doing so, going just 1/33 that the Zimbabwe-born fighter overcomes his Argentinian opponent at Wembley Arena.
Chisora’s last bout was a defeat at the hands of David Haye, in a clash sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation.
But after his fifth-round knockout loss in that outing, Chisora is keen to rebuild his reputation to a level where he can feasibly challenge for a world title.
His bid to begin that rep-rehab starts in a 10-round scrap opposite Avila, who has lost a big 12 of his 33 professional fights.
With eight of those defeats coming by way of knockout, big-stake punters could profit from the 1/6 odds that Chisora is successful by this means when the pair meet at Wembley.
But perhaps the best value in the fight is to be found in round betting, especially in light of half of ‘Del Boy’s’ eight total knockout victories being garnered in the second round of bouts.
5/1 is the price that he again triumphs in the second round, and such an emphatic success could go some way to securing a future fight with fellow Brit David Price.
That looks one of Chisora’s goals, given that Liverpudlian Price has rejected the chance to face ‘Del Boy’ next time out in favour of a rematch with Tony Thompson.
Chisora told ESPN: “I’m looking to destroy Avila first at Wembley Arena and then face one of the other so-called rivals next.
“If it’s David Price then great, I know he wouldn’t be able to stand up to my power and he’d be a step in the right direction for me.”
A big-money bout between the pair would appear to be on the cards if, as expected, both prevail from their upcoming clashes with dominant wins registered.
