Last season’s championship produced an extraordinary and incredibly surprising result, with Galway triumphing over Kilkenny 2-21 – 2-11.
Galway were the long shot outsiders ahead of the match, and their win ended Kilkenny’s seven-year winning streak.
But the Stripy Carts fought back when the two sides met again in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final, and after a draw in the first match, they roared past Galway to claim yet another championship.
That sort of fightback, and the pain of last year’s defeat, makes a price on 4/7 for Kilkenny to reclaim the Leinster title quite appealing indeed given their historical prowess in the competition with 68 wins under their belts.
A price of 4/5 for the Cats to win another All-Ireland title should also be given some consideration.
2013 Munster Senior Hurling Championship
Tipperary picked up their fourth Munster Championship win in five years with victory over Waterford last year, and Tipp are 4/6 to do so again.
That’s a strong price considering Cork are second favourites at 4/1 and have reached just one final in the past seven years.
Tipp are second favourites are 3/1 to win the All-Ireland Championship, and are the only side apart from Kilkenny to win the Liam McCarthy Cup since 2006.
2013 Connacht Senior Football Championship
Four finals in five years, and three Connacht Senior Championships in four years goes some way to explaining why Mayo are favourites for another title win.
They’ve had no trouble dispatching rivals Galway and Sligo aside in recent years and almost made it a glorious summer in 2012, losing in the All-Ireland Senior Final to Donegal 2-11 – 0-13.
There’s little to suggest Mayo can’t win another Connacht title this summer, and odds of 10/11 should attract a lot of attention in this accumulator.
Some may be also tempted at 11/1 for Mayo to go one step further and win the All-Ireland Championship. 2013 may be their year after finshing as runners up three times in 10 years.
2013 Ulster Senior Football Championship
Ulster sides have largely dominated Gaelic football in recent years, producing five winners of the All-Ireland title since 2002.
Armargh won the Sam Maguire Cup 11 years ago, with Tyrone reeling off a hat-trick of titles between 2003 and 2008, before Donegal edged past Mayo in last year’s final.
Donegal are favourites for the Ulster title this year at 11/8, but only once has the All-Ireland title been successfully defended since 1990, leading us to fancy Tyrone at 3/1 to return to winning ways and bump up this accumulator value.
Kilkenny at 4/5, Tipperary at 4/6, Mayo at 10/11 and Tyrone at 3/1 make up a tasy 4-way accumulator of 20/1.
