Both goalkeepers to play fetch as Arsenal entertain Napoli

Two of Europe’s form teams go head-to-head in this Champions League showdown at the Emirates, where both keepers can expect to be retrieving the ball from their net.

Both Arsenal and Napoli have started their respective domestic campaigns with aplomb, racking up five victories apiece from their opening six league games, while matchday one of this competition also proved fruitful for either side.

With last season’s beaten finalists Borussia Dortmund also residing in Group F, the stakes could not be higher in north London, as a win for either would create clear daylight in the ‘Group of Death’.

On a run of nine wins in all competitions (taking in the League Cup penalty shoot-out defeat of West Brom) and factoring in home advantage, it’s not entirely surprising to see Arsenal as odds-on favourites at 19/10, although the comparatively skinny 11/4 on the Napoli win, shows just how tough a prospect the Italians should prove.

There are so many good players to choose from in either potential line-up that this should make for an intriguing contest.

Goal machine Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and playmaker Mesut Ozil should play pivotal roles for the hosts once more, while the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Marek Hamsik and local lad Lorenzo Insigne will all be influential for the visitors.

While guessing the final result would take a considerable leap of faith though, the amount of goals both teams are scoring should at least provide the neutral some entertainment and hopefully profit.

Over 2.5 goals here can be backed at 8/11, while both teams to score has an air of inevitability about it at 13/20.

Arsenal have netted at least twice in seven of their 10 games this season, while they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in five across all competitions.

Similarly, Rafa Benitez’ prolific Napoli side have only failed to score multiple times in one of their seven matches also.

Worth noting also, that Rafa’s Liverpool reign only produced four wins against Arsenal in 13 meetings in his time at Anfield, while he lost eight times.
