Beckham is 10/1 to apply ‘golden’ touch to a Premier League club
Published:Following the news that David Beckham is poised to invest in his own MLS franchise, Ladbrokes have offered a series of special bets regarding the footballing icon’s future moves.
The bookies have priced it at attractive odds of 40/1 that Beckham’s new team will win the MLS in its first year, while a more sensible 6/1 says they achieve MLS glory within the next decade.
The firm also quote 5/1 that either Romeo or Brooklyn Beckham make an appearance for their Dad’s new club at some point in the future.
This dip into football club investment has also prompted Ladbrokes to offer another tantalising price of 10/1 that Goldenballs buys up a stake in a Premier League club within the next five years.
David Williams of Ladbrokes said: “Nearly everything Becks touches turns to gold so we wouldn’t be surprised to see this latest venture coin in the cash.”
Having carved out his glittering playing career at Old Trafford, Manchester United would make the obvious club of choice for Becks, though family links to east London bring West Ham and Tottenham into the frame.
Then again, for someone with the amount of wedge that Beckham has accrued through ridiculously lucrative playing contracts, sponsorship deals and personal enterprises, he would pretty much have the pick of any club in the league.
Meanwhile, Beckham’s name was also in the news recently for featuring prominently in Sir Alex Ferguson’s new dirt-dishing book ‘My Autobiography’, which is now the 4/6 favourite to top the Christmas book list. All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
