Goals for PSG and Cardozo in our Champions League Group C preview

Goals galore are predicted in this week’s two Group C fixtures, with the lopsided nature of the teams involved likely to play a part in proceedings.

PSG to win and over 2.5 goals to be scored in match @ 23/20

After two wins from two Paris Saint-Germain look well-placed to top Group C having steamrolled previous opponents Olympiakos and Benfica by scorelines of 4-1 and 3-0 respectively.

The Parisiens have been particularly impressive on the road in Europe over the past two seasons and are unbeaten in five away games, winning four and drawing one, with that particular stalemate coming against Barcelona.

Talismanic striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also bang in form with five goals in PSG’s last three games and the big Swede could prove too hot to handle for an Anderlecht side that slipped to a 3-0 home loss against Olympiakos last time out in this competition.

With the Belgians likely to field a young team for this group encounter, the Ligue 1 champions look well-placed for another big European win on the road.

Oscar Cardozo to score anytime @ evens

Benfica’s home encounter with Olympiakos is the first part of a double header between the two teams that will effectively decide who joins PSG in the knockout stages.

In this instance the Portuguese side should be confident of victory, given their impressive record at Estadio da Luz in Europe, which has seen them win three on the bounce heading into this game.

Much will depend on the form of Oscar Cardozo who, despite agitating for a summer move, appears to have settled back into his role as the Eagles’ goalscorer in chief.

Three in his last four league appearances tells its own story while an impressive haul of nine in 14 appearances in the Champions League and Europa League last term demonstrates his European pedigree.

And with Cardozo set as Benfica’s penalty taker, a home tie with the Greek side represents the perfect opportunity for him to open his European account this season.
