Wolves win central to our Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Treble

Published:

With the international break in full swing, the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy might be the best place for English fans to see some decent football for a couple of weeks and there is a profit to be had in backing one of our Red Hot Trebles in the second round.

There are plenty of options on offer, but the wisest punters should get behind Preston, Wolves and Rotherham at 11/2.

Preston to beat Oldham @ 5/6

Preston’s 2-0 loss to high-flying Peterborough in their last outing ended a run of five straight victories, and they will be afforded an excellent chance to bounce back at home to Oldham.

The Lilywhites have won all but one of their five home games this term, while Oldham have lost their last three games on the road as part of a five match winless run.

The two sides met at Deepdale in League One at the start of September, when Preston ran out 2-1 winners.

Wolves to beat Notts County @ 8/13

Kenny Jackett’s side have won eight of their last ten matches in all competitions, including their past three without conceding, to push themselves into third in League One.

Meanwhile, County are yet to win on the road, losing four of their six matches in normal time, and have conceded ten in losing on their past three trips away from Meadow Lane.

Rotherham to beat York @ 21/20

Rotherham should enjoy the short trip to Bootham Crescent, which has been far from a fortress for League Two York this season.

The Minstermen have only won twice in six games in front of their own fans this season, losing three, while Rotherham’s only defeat on the road this term came at Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup.

The Millers have won three and drawn two of their five away games in League One to help them into the play-offs places, and should have little trouble seeing off York.

Combine the three with our Red Hot Treble for an 11/2 pay-out.
