Man City v CSKA: Visitors have become draw specialists in England

Published:

With two wins in three matches, Manchester City have enjoyed a solid start to this season’s Champions League. But at 1/5, there’s very little value for a home win here.

CSKA Moscow, who were beaten 2-1 by City earlier in the campaign, are more than capable of picking up points on the road having avoided defeat in nine of 12 away matches in UEFA competitions. More notably, perhaps, is that their last three matches on English soil have resulted in draws (Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester United respectively). A statistic that will no doubt give them hope ahead of their journey to the Etihad.

Meanwhile, City have been unable to find victory in their last four home Champions League matches and with their captain Vincent Kompany still out with a thigh strain and goalkeeping issues unresolved, it is by no means a forgone conclusion that Pellegrini’s side will take all three points here.

Backing CSKA to win or draw in the double chance market is 16/5, whilst the outright draw is 11/2

Whilst the Citizens may have struggled at times, Champions League matches at the Etihad are rarely dull. City’s last four encounters at home have all seen both sides score goals and more interestingly, three of the last four at home have all been score draws.

A score draw is 13/2, whilst a CSKA win is a mega 11/1

Joint-top Premier League scorer Sergio Aguero has three goals in his last three Champions League games this season and has scored the final goal in half of Manchester City’s last six matches in Europe. Whilst value for City is hard to come by in this one, a price of 3/1 for Aguero to score last should not be disregarded when looking at the goalscoring markets.
