Basement battle can swing in Bury’s favour in League Two acca

Published:

Bury host Northampton Town in their upcoming League Two clash and we’re backing Kevin Blackwell’s side to emerge victorious from this proverbial six-pointer.

Morecambe, Dagenham and Redbridge and Torquay United make up the rest of this enticing four-fold with a £10 stake delivering an incredible £351.12 return.

Bury to beat Northampton @ Evens

The host’s recent FA Cup exit to Cambridge United was a galling, if not unsurprising result against an aspirational U’s outfit.

Maintaining their Football League status is a far bigger priority for the Shakers though and they can pull clear of the danger zone with victory over a wretched Northampton side.

The visitors suffered their own cup humiliation at Grimsby and having only managed one win and four away goals in the league this season, it’s no wonder their position is so precarious.

By contrast, Gigg Lane has at least provided some home comforts for Bury with three of their four previous wins secured in Lancashire.

And we fully expect them to extend their unbeaten run against Northampton to five games.

Morecambe to beat Bristol Rovers @ 6/5

Morecambe took four points from Bristol Rovers last season and Jim Bentley’s team can return to form with victory over the West Country side.

The Pirates have only managed one solitary away victory in League Two this term and trail their hosts by 10 points heading into this encounter.

The play-off chasing Shrimps may have lost their early season rhythm of late but the visit of The Gas could be just what’s required to re-build some momentum.

Morecambe have scored in all but two of their 10 home matches this season, while Rovers have failed to find the target in eight of their previous 19 fixtures in the league and may continue to struggle here.

Dagenham and Redbridge to beat Oxford @ 14/5

All three of Oxford United’s defeats this season have come at the Kassam Stadium and our outside pick of the day is for Dagenham and Redbridge to follow-up last season’s victory in the Thames Valley.

The Daggers were winners at high-flying Southend earlier in the campaign and are only four points behind their league-leading hosts despite the disparity in their respective positions in the table.

And any recent away day woes can be overcome with some tough trips to the likes of Hartlepool and Plymouth now in the past.

Bristol Rovers’ victory at Oxford is another source of inspiration for the east London club and they’re in with a great chance of securing an upset.

Southend United to beat Torquay @ 11/10

Phil Brown’s Southend side continue to soar up the table and with six victories in their previous seven games they’re likely to be too strong for hopeless Torquay United.

The Gulls are winless in five while conceding ten goals in that period and they won’t want to dwell on last season’s 4-1 home reverse against their Essex opponents.

With only eight goals scored at Plainmoor this season, and blanks registered in four of their nine home outings, Torquay are rightly rooted to the bottom of the table and that’s where they’re likely to remain following this contest.
