Chisnall and Van Barneveld ready to shine at Ally Pally

| 15.12.2013

Dave Chisnall and five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld are set to take to the oche at the Alexandra Palace, with both men eyeing routine wins in their Ladbrokes World Darts Championship openers.

Combined with selections of Colin Osborne and Jamie Caven, this darts four-fold returns £88 from a £10 stake.

Dave Chisnall to beat John Henderson @ 2/9

St. Helens arrowsmith Dave Chisnall has had a memorable year and he can cap it off by enjoying a successful World Championship, starting off with a revenge victory against John Henderson.

Hendo has beaten Chisnall on all three of the previous occasions they’ve met.

However Chizzy’s form in capturing three titles this year, as well as reaching his first major final at the World Grand Prix, makes him our selection.

Averaging over 93 in 2013, Chisnall has rightly deserved his march up the PDC Order of Merit and on current form he looks a safe bet to finally dispatch Henderson.

C Osborne to beat D Lindskjold @ 1/5

Danish darts player Dennis Lindskjold remains an unknown quantity heading into his first ever World Championship.

But having fought through eight rounds to get to the showpiece event, including a victory over former last 16 opponent Jarkko Komula, The Beast at least deserves some respect heading into this preliminary tie.

A quarter-finalist when making his first World Championship appearance in 2007, Ozzy’s career has petered out somewhat in recent years.

However, there have been some flitting highlights this in 2013, including a victory over world number eight Wes Newton, and Osborne’s greater experience should be the deciding factor here.

R Van Barneveld to beat J Lewis @ 1/10

Raymond Van Barneveld meets Jamie Lewis for the first time and it’s likely that it won’t be an encounter to remember for the Welshman.

The Welshman has enjoyed prominence with a run to the final of Gibraltar Darts Trophy and two quarter-final appearances in Players Championship events.

But Van Barneveld represents another level up for Rasta with the former champion able to call on his recent Irish Players Championship title for inspiration.

J Caven to beat J Klaasen@ 4/6

Jamie Caven edged ahead in his personal duel with Jelle Klaasen in May when a 6-4 Players Championship victory handed the Englishman a 6-5 lead in their head-to-head record.

Jabba has been averaging over 92 compared to The Matador’s 83 this year.

And having finished as the recent runner-up of the Irish Players Championship he’ll no doubt be in confident mood ahead of this tie.

By contrast, Klaasen has struggled for consistency and although more than capable on his day, the Dutchman could fail to turn u on darts’ biggest stage.
