Man City clear title favourites after thrashing Arsenal
Published:Manchester City are the clear 11/10 favourites to win the Premier League after thrashing Arsenal to move within three points of the Gunners at the top of the table.
Arsenal had lost just two games all season before their trip to the Etihad, but after a 6-3 defeat Arsene Wenger’s side are now 10/3 to win the title despite sitting two points clear of Chelsea, who cut the gap after a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
The Blues are 3/1 to win their first Premier League title since 2010, but it is Manchester City that head the betting after the Citizens moved to their highest position since the opening weekend of the season following their emphatic victory.
Goals from Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo, David Silva, Yaya Toure and a Fernandinho brace gave City their eighth consecutive home league victory this season to maintain their 100% record at the Etihad, during which time they have struck 35 goals, hitting Arsenal and Spurs for six and netting seven against Norwich City.
The contrast with their away from is stark, where Manuel Pellegrini’s side have won just two of their eight fixtures, and it could be only until the Citizens have shown they can win on the road on a more consistent basis that the 11/10 quote seems like a fair enough price.
Everton are now 4/1 to finish in the Champions League places after a 4-1 win over Fulham at Goodison Park moved them into fourth place.
At the other end of the table, Crystal Palace remain the favourites for relegation following the reverse at Chelsea, with the Eagles 3/10 to make an immediate return to the Championship. Sunderland are 1/2 to go down after a 0-0 draw at West Ham left the Black Cats in the marooned at the foot of the table five points from safety.
Fulham are also odds-on to be relegated at 10/11 after being hammered 4-1 at Everton, but there could be some interest in the 3/1 on West Ham finishing in the bottom three – Sam Allardyce’s side are just one point and one place above the drop zone and are in the middle of a run of just one win in nine games.
