Fury halts retirement plan after signing with Warren

Tyson Fury’s self-proclaimed retirement from boxing is over after it was confirmed the Manchester heavyweight has signed a long-term promotional contract with Frank Warren.

And Fury, who is unbeaten in 21 fights, is being lined up to face Chisora next summer, if both come through their next contests unscathed, in what could potentially be a final eliminator for Wladamir Klitschko’s WBO heavyweight crown.

“I’ve been promoting a long time and this [Chisora-Fury] is a huge fight,” said Warren.

“This is a stadium fight. But neither of them can afford to lose.”

Fury, who is 13/8 to win a world heavyweight belt (WBC, WBA, WBO or IBF) at anytime in 2014, was the points winner when he and Chisora met back in 2011 at Wembley Arena.

But Del Boy has overseen a turnaround in fortunes in the last year after dropping over a stone in weight in a bid to improve his chances of capturing a world strap.

The Finchley fighter has won four successive bouts, capturing the European title along the way, and he is 4/1 to grab a world heavyweight crown in 2014 with Ladbrokes.

With both Chisora and Fury highly ranked in the WBC there could be an opportunity of a shot at the vacant title, but with the British fighters rated number two and six in the WBO organisation, their shot at glory is more likely to come against heavyweight king Dr Steelhammer.

The younger Klitschko brother, who is the is the longest reigning IBF, WBO & IBO Heavyweight Champion in history, would be favourite in any contest against either of the  Brit pair, therefore the 4/9 and the 1/7 respectively on Fury or Chisora not becoming a world champion in 2014 appeals.

Meanwhile, David Haye could be set for a comeback to the ring after posting a picture of himself on Twitter back in training.

This comes just two months after the Bermondsey-born fighter withdrew from his fight against Fury for the second time, with a reported career threatening shoulder injury.

But all the signs point to a return to the ring for Haye in 2014 and with Vitali Klitschko now a ‘champion emeritus’  and pursuing a political career in his native Ukraine,  his route to a world title has become a lot clearer.

The 33-year-old Londoner is 6/1 with Ladbrokes to become a world champion in 2014 and with rumours of a potential showdown with WBC title challenegr Canadian Bermane Stiverne gathering pace, this could be the value boxing bet of the year.
