Arsenal to get Reds revenge as part of FA Cup accumulator

Published:

The recent 5-1 thumping against Liverpool and a 6-3 reverse against Manchester City earlier this year suggest the Gunners do not have the credentials to beat the other big teams around them.

However, the north London side’s incredible home form will give them confidence of revenge over the Reds in this fantastic fourfold.

We’re backing Arsenal to emerge victorious with both teams to score along with wins for City, Cardiff and Sunderland at huge odds of over 53/1.

Arsenal to beat Liverpool and both teams to score @ 31/10

While Arsenal failed miserably to beat Liverpool and City and conceded 11 goals in the above-mentioned games, talk of a crisis at the Emirates is wildly wide of the mark.

Wenger’s men are unbeaten in their last 12 games in all competitions in front of their home fans and have been extremely hard to break down in those matches, keeping 11 cleans sheets in that time.

Liverpool may have their tails up after the recent 5-1 mauling of the hosts, but that result gave them just a second win in 13 meetings with Arsenal.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have emerged as genuine title contenders in recent weeks but this comes despite patchy away form, with the Reds victorious in just six of their last 15 away from Anfield.

However, with the Merseysiders scoring in 11 of their last 12 on the road backing an Arsenal win with both sides finding the net looks the way to go here.

Sunderland to beat Southampton @ 21/20

Two of the most in-form teams in the country do battle at the Stadium of Light this weekend and while Southampton will arrive in confident mood it is Sunderland who will march on.

The Black Cats are a different side under Gus Poyet, with defeat to Hull last time out ending a run of six wins and one draw in all competitions.

Poyet has made the Wearsiders very difficult to beat at home, with just a single defeat in their last six as hosts and a solid record against the Saints will help them to improve that record here.

The south coast high flyers are on an eight-game unbeaten run of their own and have lost just once in six away from St Mary’s.

However, Mauricio Pochettino’s men have not beaten Sunderland since January 2003 so expect the hosts to come out on top of what is set to be a tight battle.

Manchester City to beat Chelsea @ 23/20

Like Arsenal, City are also out for revenge after seeing their perfect home run in the league ended by Chelsea.

The Citizens have still lost just once in 22 games at the Etihad and will be confident of avoiding a third straight loss to the Blues.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men have won six and drawn one of their last nine against the west Londoners and while a close match is almost guaranteed, home advantage should seal it for City.

Chelsea are unbeaten in six games away from Stamford Bridge but lost four of the previous six and will bow out to the Sky Blues here.

Cardiff to beat Wigan @ evens

Relegation strugglers often see the cup as a distraction but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Cardiff need to use this game to find some form.

The Bluebirds have won just one of their last four and last beat Wigan back in 1997 but having gone unbeaten in two of three at home should have the confidence to overcome the threat of the Championship side.

The Latics have failed to win 10 of their last 15 away from the DW Stadium and did not score in eight of those games so expect Cardiff to pick up a win and some much-needed confidence.
