Froch odds-on with Ladbrokes for second win over Groves

Carl Froch is odds-on with Ladbrokes to beat George Groves for the second time after it was announced the super-middleweights will clash again on May 31^st.

The Nottingham fighter was the victor with a controversial stoppage over his British rival when the WBA and IBF word title were on the line at the Phones4U Arena in Manchester last November.

But the Cobra, who is 1/2 with the bookmaker for victory, was unhappy with his performance that night and wants to put that right in the second bout.

“I listened to the public and gave them what they wanted. I expect this to be one of the biggest fights the country has ever seen,” Froch said.

“I was poor in the first fight. I didn’t give him the respect as a fighter. I can’t wait to get back in there and do a proper job.”

The 36-year-old is evens with the bookmaker to inflict another stoppage on Groves but the challenger from London, who is 5/1 for a knockout of his own, expects a different outcome.

Groves, who believes the first fight was ended prematurely, is 13/8 to lift the titles this time around and he is on at 3/1 to claim the victory on points.

“I am still shocked that Froch has agreed to take the fight. I respect him for his bravery,” the 25-year-old said.

“Now I am preparing to get in the greatest physical and mental shape possible to destroy Froch in what can only be a three-round fight.

“I am counting down the days until I’m World Super Middleweight champion.”

The fight is set to be one of the biggest fights in British boxing history and is set to take place at an as-yet unnamed football stadium.

Despite Saint George’s confidence of revenge, Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Unfortunately for Groves the odds suggest lightening will strike twice and Froch will come out the victor once again.”
