New Rosicky deal huge boost to Arsenal boss Wenger

Arsenal  have ended the speculation surrounding Tomas Rosicky’s future after Arsene Wenger revealed the club have reached an agreement on a new contract for the Czech midfielder.

The 33-year-old, who was an influential part of the Gunner’s 4-1 win over Sunderland at the weekend, has agreed a new one-year contract which reportedly includes an option for a further 12 months in north London.

And Wenger, who signed the Czech international from Borussia Dortmund in 2006, is delighted to have reached an agreement with Rosicky.

“We have an agreement with him [Rosicky] and it will come out soon,” said Wenger.

“He is maybe one of the players who plays the game of give and move, is a great accelerator of the game.”

“When the ball comes to him, [he has a] second gear now and that is something I admire in him,” the Frenchman added.

“He always makes things happen, not with individual dribbling but with individual acceleration of his passing and of his runs.

“When he arrived here he was less a tactical player and more the ‘Mozart from Prague’ and he was purely creative, offensive player. Today he is a real organiser on the pitch as well. I like to have him in the team because he gives a real structure to our team.”

Rosicky, who has won 94 caps for the Czech Republic, showed all the qualities Wenger admires in him by scoring Arsenal’s third goal in their victory over Gus Poyet’s Black Cats.

The north London club, who are 13/2 to win the Premier League, kept up with title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City by taking all three points at the Emirates Stadium and Rosicky was at the heartbeat of the performance.

The former Sparta Prague star capped of his all-action display with a goal of the season contender, starting and finishing a move which involved electric first-time passing and movement which he rounded off with a well executed lob over the onrushing Vito Mannone.

Performances like this will only help Arsenal in their bid to end a trophy drought spanning eight seasons and with Rosicky on board for the future, there could be plenty more silverware around the corner for the Gunners faithful.
