Barcelona boss linked with Premier League move this summer

A Catalan sports channel has already claimed that the former Newell’s Old Boys coach is set to step down from his role as manager of Barcelona, with the source suggesting that the 51-year-old was in favour of taking over the Argentina national team after the World Cup.
However in a fresh twist, today’s papers have claimed that Spurs will look to land Martino in the summer, should the Argentine opt to end his stay in La Liga.
The report puts increasing pressure on current Lilywhites boss Sherwood, who has endured a difficult time in recent weeks at the helm of the White Hart Lane club.
Tottenham are on a run of three straight defeats going into the second leg of their Europa League clash with Benfica and must overturn a 3-1 deficit in Portugal if they are to progress to the quarter finals of the competition.
The one-time Premier League winning captain is 4/1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post following a 1-0 loss to Arsenal that has left Spurs seven points off Manchester City in fourth – a position they are 22/1 to finish in come the end of the season.
His last roll of the dice could come this week against Benfica, where a mammoth effort will be required if Tottenham are to progress, with the Londoners 4/1 to win on the night and a further 10/1 to qualify.
Heavy defeat to the Portuguese 4/6 favourites could hasten his exit and pave the way for Martino to make a shock move to the Premier League.
But with the likes of Christian Gross, Jacques Santini, Juande Ramos and Andre Villas-Boas all previously failing to translate their efforts on the continent to sustained success on English shores, it could yet prove a dangerous move – should it come to fruition.
