Rochdale to beat Wycombe @ 11/8

Rochdale’s sixth win in nine games away to Northampton in the week took them to the top of League Two and they could take another step towards promotion with a win away to Wycombe.

The victory on Tuesday was their fifth away win from their last eight with only one defeat coming in that sequence and it is this form on their travels that has seen them emerge as league-leaders.

Wycombe on the other hand are seemingly trying their best to ensure they are in the relegation picture until the last day of the season and consecutive wins at the end of February has proven a false dawn with Gareth Ainsworth’s men only collecting a solitary point from their last three.

Encouragement for home fans can be found by the fact they have only lost one of their last five at Adams Park but their inability to pull away from danger in the league has clearly taken its toll on confidence.

Get with the future League One side to continue their march and shorten even further the nails of Chairboys’ supporters.

York to beat Portsmouth @ 8/5

It’s incredible to think that York will start as favourites away to 2008 FA Cup winners Portsmouth but that’s the reality as the home side prepare to host their high-flying opponents.

While Portsmouth are having to consider a fourth demotion in five seasons York will be focusing on bridging the two point gap that separates them from the play-offs.

The recent histories of the clubs are in stark contrast, with York falling out of the Football League all together only four years before Pompey’s memorable Wembley success.

While a lot still has to go the way of Nigel Worthington’s side they have given themselves every chance in recent weeks with four consecutive wins and an unbeaten record that stretches back eight games to the end of January.

If they had any, Richie Barker’s men would love to pay some money for that type of momentum but with no wins in their last four they are in serious danger of a catastrophic exit to the Conference.

On form this is a complete mismatch and with the away side coming out on top when they met back in September the advice is to invest in the obvious.

Torquay are still in real danger of falling into the Conference but there have been definite signs in recent weeks that the Sea-side have what it takes to make a last-ditch recovery.

Six points from their last two home games has given them hope and they will strongly believe that they have what it takes against a side with precious little to play for.

And it is showing at the moment for the Welsh side. No wins in eight games and four consecutive defeats sounds like relegation form but they collected plenty of points in the first half of the campaign and are threatening neither end of the table.

This is the perfect storm and weirdly the team at the bottom of the table could be the banker of the weekend.
